“Sandra Pratt’s landscapes rise from the canvas, their surfaces thick enough to be sculptural. Her quick swipes stand on their own as slices of a tremulous second, living between the sky and tomorrow. Each painting is the result of a single sitting. In doing her work that way, Pratt catches the energy of the moment.”
— Western Art & Architecture
“She is an intuitive artist whose instinct is genuine and true. She is able to take in her surroundings, whether they be an alleyway in Europe, a show at a museum, or a poem from her childhood, and transcribe those ideas onto canvas.”
— Southwest Art Magazine
“They don’t decorate a wall. They open one.”
— Phil C., collector
“Twelve pieces in, and we’re still not finished.”
— D.R., architect and collector
“We have 14 of your paintings. I like how subtle your work is and yet your palette work is bold.”
— Kris G., collector
Every painting is built alla prima — palette knife to wet paint, one session. Each original is the only one that exists, and once it finds a home, that’s where it stays.
The paintings move between Colorado’s high-altitude grandeur, the rolling farmland of New England, intimate European village scenes, and the wide quiet of the American West.

My wife and I have lived with two of Sandra's paintings — Autumn Composition and Colorful Village — and they have become impossible to imagine the room without.
What strikes us most is how different the two works are in subject, yet identical in their effect: you are pulled somewhere else entirely. There is a stillness in them that invites genuine contemplation. The texture and depth reward close looking — and reward it again, months later.

I have been following you since we bought one of your paintings in 2009-2010. We were in Santa Fe and fell in love with your painting of the St. Francis of Assisi church in Taos. It reminded me of a Georgia O’Keefe painting I had seen at one time. I love your painterly style and your choice of colors! Thank you for painting so beautifully!.

We've followed Sandra's work for years and have built a collection of twelve pieces — something that happened gradually, then all at once. There's an architectural honesty to the way she places them in a landscape. The gestural palette knife work is what holds everything together. That thickness, that physical confidence in the paint — it's the mark of someone who has nothing to prove and everything to say. We never considered ourselves landscape painting collectors. Then we acquired one. Then another. — David & Anne R., collectors
We have 14 of your paintings…..I like how subtle your work is and yet your palette work is bold. We both love color ( that said, we have an almost all grey/white one of yours too.)

I love the palette knife technique. The layered paint is so beautiful. I live in the Midwest and I’m obsessed with your barn/building paintings. They just remind me of home. Just something very cozy about your paintings and the warm tones.

“We met Sandra while traveling in Colorado several years ago. My wife and I were amazed by how stunning her original artwork is. We have several pieces of her artwork and each is treasured by us.”

“Sandra does AMAZING work. Those are not typical oil paintings They’re so simple, so precise, yet abstract I’m so impressed.”

“I commissioned 5 pieces from Sandra and was awe struck by the completed works. They are stunning and move me every time I look at them. She is truly one of the most talented artists of our generation.”
